We'd like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who supported our Earth Day Swap Meet. This event wouldn't be possible without the help of our sponsors and volunteers who had put in many hours into helping and even committing their children to work for our cause.
The swap meet this year has grown tremendously from years past. We added a second day, secured sponsors to run Earth Day-themed activities and for professionally printing our signs. The gym was sold out on both days with community and commercial vendors, 6 Earth Day activities were present to bring a fun and educational component to the event, the PAC sold donated items and there was a prize draw for 2 garden packages, and 2 SFU summer camp gift certificates.
What started as a PAC fundraiser and community building event turned into a platform for many in our Walton community to promote several other things. The grade 5s raised funds for their year-end activities by hosting a barbecue on the Saturday. Grade 1s raised funds for BCSPCA by selling seedlings and dog treats. Several other children used the swap meet to try their hand at entrepreneurship and invented, made and sold their own products. We were so happy to see how this event had benefited so many.
So much was built on past experiences that this year went without much difficulty. A swap meet committee was formed and jobs were delegated. We managed to optimize the talents of the amazing parent group without putting too much onus on any one person. We reached our fundraising goal and more than surpassed our other goals of building community and re-purposing hundreds of pounds of quality stuff.
Thank you to Mr. Mah and Ms. Castonguay for all of your support for this event. Thank you to the students and teachers for making posters. Also, thank you to our sponsors and helpers who all worked hard to put on this event. We couldn't have done it without you all.
Sincerely,
Yvonne & Lynn

BIG THANK YOU TO WALTON SWAP MEET VOLUNTEERS WHO MADE THIS HAPPEN!
*Our apologies if we missed any names. We had lots of volunteers who came unannounced. We would like to thank all of whom we’ve missed.
