Lunch Programs at Walton Elementary
Walton PAC Hot Lunch Program
Walton PAC is proud to offer Hot Lunches to students and staff once a month. The PAC Hot Lunches are usually scheduled on a Wednesday. We email the menu ahead of time and you can also view it on this website. Lunches do not need to be pre-ordered, as students bring $5 to school on Hot Lunch day, pay at the gym, and then pick up their lunch. Any leftover pizzas are sold for $2 to any students who are still hungry after the first round of serving. The PAC Hot Lunches are a fundraiser for the PAC, and 100% of funds raised go towards benefiting the students at our school. We are able to accommodate most special dietary requests and our lunch items do not contain nuts but we cannot guarantee that they are made in a nut free facility.
Not to be confused with the PAC Hot Lunches are the School District 43 and Lunch Lady lunch programs which are independent and separate lunch options available for families at Walton Elementary .
School District 43 Lunch Program
School District 43 has a program delivering lunches to schools. A hardcopy flyer with the menu for the upcoming month goes out in students' planners. Families have the option of ordering a bagged lunch in for their child for each day school is in session for the upcoming month. The lunches have to be pre-paid. This is not a hot lunch, but consists of fruit, sandwiches, yoghurt, milk ,etc. It is not possible to just order for certain days, as you have to order for a whole month every time. Students who have district lunches ordered go to the school office to pick up their lunch every day. Dietary requests or food allergies can be addressed, but they do not guarantee that their lunches are completely nut-free.
This lunch program is not offered by the PAC. If you need an extra order form or have any questions, please contact the school office, where payments are also collected. There are subsidized lunches available which are subsidized by both the school and the PAC. If you would like to order subsidized lunches and require financial assistance, then please contact the school for further information.
The Lunch Lady
The Lunch Lady company caters a large variety of lunch options to our school on Mondays. Lunches are delivered to the classrooms by the Lunch Ladies, so students do not need to go and pick up their lunch at the office. The company donates a percentage of your order's value back to the PAC, so this is also a way of supporting your PAC. Order forms go out in planners regularly, but you can also order via their website at www.thelunchlady.ca. There is a larger selection of options available online. If your child is going to miss a lunch because of an unforeseen illness or field trip, you can cancel an order and get a credit on your next order. Changes are possible up to three days prior to the day you are ordering for. The company is completely nut free.
All three lunch programs are completely optional for your child to participate in, and all the lunches conform with the BC Ministries of Education and Health's nutrition standards for elementary schools.
